Old rolls into new
marked by clock chiming midnight
Calendar not changed
Happy New Year! I am not a fan of resolutions to me one day rolls into the next and why let an arbitrary day mark a new beginning? If I want to make a change, I make it when it works best for me not based on a day in a calendar. Yesterday was the first day of the new year and the start of a new month. I was just in my kitchen, pouring my second cup of coffee for the morning; I looked over at the calendar and realized it was stuck in 2017.
Speaking of not following arbitrary dates, the City of Avondale issues free calendars every year that start July 1 and run through the end of June. There was no need to change my calendar; I just needed to flip to the new month. However I guess I was being a little lazy yesterday and didn’t think about the wall calendar. So welcome to the second day of January and hopefully a more prolific blog.
Free writing conference later this month. https://azarts.gov/arts-op/asu-writers-craft-conference-2018/
Oh dear, oh dear. Not until I read your blog did I think to change my calendar and as you know our New Zealand timeline is way ahead of yours in America. It is actually the third of January as I note this. The deed is done. Happy 3rd January 2018.
Lol! Benita, I thought I was bad not getting the calendar flipped until the second. How is the third day of the year shaping up?
It is a pleasant mild day. We had expected rain which is very much needed. The 3rd is very much better than the 2nd for me. I have a damaged shoulder which has become what they call a frozen shoulder. Arthritis has set in and yesterday it was excruciating. Hence the reason I thought we’d get rain ‘cos the condition is very much weather affected. Thankfully the pain has gone today. And any bad weather that might have been close. I’ve not long got out of bed and am going to relax and watch The Steel Magnolias. Something light.
Happy 3rd January, 2018
I know what you mean about arthritis pain. My right knee gets very sore with any change in humidity. Thankfully it’s not often in AZ. We’ve actually been too dry and warm this season while I appreciate it, I also know we could use the rain.
P.S. watch Star Wars! Any episode other than the first 3 in the prequel!
I’m just not a Star Wars fan. Please don’t kick me of your blog for saying that 😉
