#NaPoWriMo 2024 Wrap-up

Good afternoon and welcome to my wrap-up for #NaPoWriMo 2024: better late than never. 😉

In total I wrote 40 poems in April. And at the start of this month I made a couple submissions. Other than that I’ve been busy sending out graduation announcements and catching up on all the chores I let fall by the wayside when I’m enmeshed in poetry madness. WordPress sent my April statistics the other day, so I thought I’d share them here. One plus to not getting to my wrap-up on May 1st.

Thank you to all my readers who have joined me in April and everyone who left me comments. I appreciate your time and encouragement. Hopefully I’ll be back soon with poetry submission news.

  1. Congrats, Veronica, on completing so many poems and submissions, too. Your stats are impressive. May all your submissions be fruitful!

I can’t say how many poems I wrote during the month. I tried, but lost count a few days here and there. I played with quite a few prompts that I wouldn’t have normally done, and even created a few poems I’m glad I wrote. The fact that you were working so hard to accomplish the goal of a poem a day made me write more (and different) poems than I normally would. Thanks!

I wish you continued success in your writing and educational endeavors.      ~Nan

    • Nan, Thank you. The past few years it has felt like less people have been coming to read my poetic endeavors in April than when I first started following NaPoWriMo in 2010. I’m glad I was able to inspire you to try new forms and shared them with me and your readers. Even after all these years I still learn about new forms or find new poets I enjoy reading. I’m happy you may find new forms you enjoy as well.

      • Veronica,   I’m sorry more people haven’t viewed/read your poetry over time. That’s sad particularly since you are a dedicated poet.     Very few of my poems ended up on my blog although I posted them on the prompt sites. I’ve thought about posting them in my blog, but have been too busy and/or lazy to get it done.Maybe soon, though. I shared the one about pizza at a poetry reading, and it may be my favorite new poem I’ve written during April.    ~Nan

      • I read a previous NaPoWriMo poem about living with cats at an open mic night back in March. A couple people came up and told me how fun they thought it was. And I’m sure readers appreciated your poems on the other sites. I always check the comments left on Maureen’s prompts.

      • Veronica,    I found her prompts fun to do. Not that I wrote a poem for all of them, but then I was away for several days and got way behind and gave up trying to write to all of her prompts. I was also getting daily prompts from the Cuyahoga County Library (in Cleveland, Ohio) so it became overwhelming to me. That I got a few poems out of all these different prompts make me happy. Some poems were just silly, but fun to write any way.                   ~Nan

      • Nan I’m always impressed with poets who can follow more than one prompt page. I would check out the prompts from Writer’s Digest and Virginia G Piper’s writing center in previous years, but it does get overwhelming.

      • Veronica,    I didn’t do very well following them. I’d read them, but decide quickly whether I would participate in any particular prompt. I would write what I wanted because I didn’t have the time. As I indicated earlier, lazy and/or busy…so that’s why I was not as successful as you are.
